WHY WE FIGHT
WHAT WE LEARNED
-
Fentanyl is abundantly available and easily acquired in South Mississippi
-
There are very specific warning signs of use
-
Regardless of appearance, ANY drug can be Fentanyl in disguise
-
Fentanyl is 100x more addictive than morphine and the amount that can fit on the tip of a needle is fatal
-
This crisis has been dumped on an already overwhelmed healthcare system. Some facilities have done better than others with the learning curve. Do your research so that you can advocate for yourself if needed.
-
Hospitals and treatment centers will advocate for treatments that they can provide. What they offer may not be what you need. Again, research. Know what you need and look around until you find it.
-
Health insurance does not provide adequate coverage for addiction treatment
-
"Hive Knowledge" is very low when it comes to information about South Mississippi's Fentanyl problem.
In the Fall of 2022, our youngest Fayard, straight out of High School, went off to college on a full-ride honors scholarship. By November he had transferred from the university to a 6-month experiential rehab in West Virginia after a near-fatal Fentanyl overdose. We had no clue that he was on drugs. When we discovered he had a problem, we had no clue what to do. When we determined what would be best for him, we were not at all prepared to pay the out-of-pocket costs of long-term rehab. We sought and received the help of our community and will be forever grateful for their assistance. Our boy is on the path to full recovery, and now, we want to assist others in our community that find themselves in the midst of a drug crisis. Or, even better, to assist in preventing a drug crisis from happening in the first place.

ARE DONATIONS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
We have no reason to expect that they won't be. We incorporated as a private foundation, registered as a Mississippi charity, and have filed our application with the IRS for 501(C)(3) status. Our bank account is set up as a charity fund. However, until we receive our 501(C)(3) acceptance we can not guarantee that your donations will be tax deductible. The review process can take a few months from what we understand.
